Government of Jharkhand and JSW Steel, an OP
Jindal group company signed an MoU on 9 November 2005 for the Rs.35,000 crore
steel plant in Jharkhand.
The proposed 10 million tpa steel plant will be
located near Hesalong in Saraikela Kharsawan district closer to the iron ore
producing regions of the state.
The project will be implemented in two phases and
will also generate 800 MW thermal power for captive use.
The first phase will involve production capacity
of 6 million tpa with the remaining being added in the second phase.
The plant will facilitate rapid, accelerated and
planned industrial growth of the region.
The entire project is scheduled for completion
within 84 months from getting clearances from the state government.
