Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister, Mr Virbhadra
Singh, laid the foundation stone of the 192 MW Allain Duhangan hydropower
project on 21 November 2005.
Malana Power Corporation, a private sector entity
managed by the LNJ Bhilwara Group, is promoting this project. (See related news
for more details.)
The minister said that Himachal Pradesh would be
awarding hydropower projects worth around 7,000 MW over the next four months.
Out of the total state's potential of 21,000 MW, projects aggregating 6,600 MW
are already operational while those worth 7,600 MW are under execution.
Hydropower projects in the state have been
categorised under three segments — below 5 MW, between 5 MW and 100 MW, and
above 100 MW. While projects above 100 MW would be allotted through the
international bidding process, the others (small and medium) would be awarded
through the Memorandum of Understanding route.
