Hutchison Telecom that operates in the
Indian telecom sector through its joint venture with the Essar Group has
announced a capacity expansion programme of Rs.6,000 crore.
The Hong Kong-based company has
earmarked between Rs.5,400-Rs.6,000 crore in doubling its Indian telecom network
size this year. Capital investment in India would account for nearly 70 per cent
of that earmarked for the group's worldwide operations.
Hutch will not only expand its
original telecom network in India, but also that acquired from the BPL group.
Hutch will add more areas under operation and will also add more backbone
capacity.
