A consortium led by Ansaldo Singal, an
Italian railway communication major bagged an order worth Rs.440 crore from
Indian Railways and is in talks with Mysore-based firm for buying or forging a
JV to start manufacturing in India.
The scope of work involves
modernisation of signalling and telecommunications system for the 413 km.
stretch between Ghaziabad and Kanpur.
Ansaldo will have a share of Rs.290
crore in the contract, the two other companies - MRT and Leighton Asia,
will share the rest in 60:40 ratio, it is learnt.
