• Rail Vikas Nigam has awarded the gauge conversion project of Attur- Salem section, on the Southern Railway in Tamil Nadu, to DS Construction. The project, costing Rs.61.48 crore and scheduled for completion in a year, involves conversion of the existing meter gauge single line to broad gauge railway line of the 56 km Attur-Salem section. • Pratibha Industries bagged an order worth Rs.27 crore crore from J&K Economic Re-Construction Agency for executing a water supply scheme under Rangil Water Supply Scheme in Srinagar. • Hindustan Construction Co. bagged an order worth Rs.317.11 crore from National Highway Authority of India for four laning of NH-54 from km.126/450 to km.164/700 and km.164/080 to km.165/400 (Mailbang to Nrimbanglo) in Assam. [Contract Package - EW-II (AS-23)]. The project, which is part of NHDP-II, is scheduled for completion within 30 months.

B. Overseas Contracts

•  KEC International (India) bagged an order worth 562 million birr ($64.8 million) from Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation (EEPCo) for the electrification of rural regions which will cover 73 districts and 45 towns in three regions across the country. Work on the project is scheduled for completion by July 2007.

• PSL bagged an order worth Rs.85 crore from Ministry of Housing, Electricity & Water, Sultanate of Oman for supply of API grade steel pipes.

• Kirloskar Brothers bagged an order worth Rs.120 crore from Ministry of Agriculture, Senegal for supply of diesel and electric pumpsets, accessories and other irrigation equipment.
