The DS (Dharampal Satyapal) Group is setting up three plants
with varied activities in north-eastern India. The total investment is estimated
at Rs.390 crore.
In Tripura, two units for producing
steel and rubber thread have been proposed, while one packaging unit has been
planned in Assam.
The Rs.250 crore steel sheet plant
coming up in Tripura will produce cold rolled full hard and annealed sheets,
and also also galvanised plain coils. The project of which Phase I was already
commissioned in May 2005, will have two more phases.
- Phase II of the project is
scheduled for completion by July 2006 with a capacity of 1.5 lakh tpa.
- Phase III of the project with an
investment of Rs.200 crore will also produce galvanized sheets and coils and
colour coated sheets and coils with completion scheduled for 2010
(Phase I of the project with an
investment of Rs.10 crore, producing galvanized plain and corrugated sheets
has already been commissioned in May 2005.)
The company is setting up a 5,000 tpa
heat resistant latex rubber thread manufacturing unit in Agartala with an
investment of Rs.80 crore. Commercial production is likely to begin by June 2006
with trail run expected by end-May 2006.
In Assam, the group is setting up a
Rs.60 crore flexible packaging unit in Bonda. The unit will manufacture
laminates and pouches used for packing a range of products such as food items,
soaps and shampoo. With a total capacity of 4,800 tpa the project is scheduled
for completion by June 2006.
