Bajaj Hindusthan is planning to set up
a sugar unit in Brazil with an investment of $500 million. The company will set
up a subsidiary in Brazil for the proposed project including setting up
greenfield facilities and acquisitions.
The operations will be funded through
$380 million raised by the company through the GDR and FCCB route.
The company's overall sugarcane
crushing capacity is currently 56,000 tccpd and is targeted to nearly treble to 1,50,000 tccpd
by September 2007.
