Hyderabad-based Lanco Group has outbid
Reliance Energy and Essar Group for the 1,000 MW Anpara C thermal power project
in Uttar Pradesh. The bids were opened on 6 June 2006.
Ernst & Young - the government's
advisor for the project - will prepare an evaluation report on the bids. It will
then be presented to the evaluation committee set up by the UP government.
The UP government has tied up the
project's coal and water linkages, besides putting in place the evacuation line
and power purchase agreement with distribution companies promoted by the UP
State Electricity Board.
The project, located in the Sonebhadra
district of UP, with a capacity of 2 x 500 MW (1,000 MW) power plant will have a
pit-head station with linkages from the Northern Coal Fields. The project is
expected to cost around Rs.4,000 crore. Completion is scheduled for within 36
months of financial closure.
It may be recalled that the Lanco
group recently picked up 74 per cent stake in the 1,015 MW Nagarjuna
power project.
