Bharat Heavy Electricals, on 14 August
2006, bagged an order worth Rs.1,224 crore from Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut
Utpadan Nigam for setting up the 500 MW Parichha thermal power plant (Stage III)
in Jhansi, comprising two units of 250 MW each.
BHEL's scope of work includes
manufacturing, supplying, testing and commissioning of the main plant package
along with associated auxiliaries and civil works. BHEL's plants at Haridwar,
Trichy, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Bhopal and Jhansi will supply project equipment.
The project is scheduled for completion by 2009-10.
The company is already executing a
contract for setting up two units of 210 MW capacity each (Units 3 and 4) at
Parichha TPS Extension, of which one (Unit 3) was commissioned in April 2006.
Unit 4 is scheduled for commissioning in September 2006.
Presently, BHEL is executing orders
for two units each of 250 MW capacity for Korba East TPS of CSEB, Lehra Mohabbat
TPS of PSEB, Bhilai Expansion TPS of BESCL and Mejia and Chandrapura TPS of DVC,
in addition to one unit each at Parli and Paras TPS of MSEB and Santaldih TPS of
WBPDCL. BHEL has also recently won orders for one unit of 250 MW for Trombay TPS
of Tata Power Company and its single-largest contract from an Independent Power
Producer (IPP) for a thermal power project comprising 4 units of 250 MW each, in
Chhattisgarh.
ProjectsToday,
on 25 May 2006, had exclusively reported the development that UPRVUNL had placed
a verbal order on BHEL for the Parichha extension project Units 5 and 6. (Read
