Bharat Heavy Electricals, on 25
September 2006, bagged the EPC contract worth Rs.854 crore for CESC's 250 MW Budge
Budge-III power project in South 24 Parganas in West Bengal.
BHEL's scope of work includes supply
boiler turbine package, coal and ash handling plants and plant water system for
the proposed project . It will however not supply the switchyard and the chimney
stack which will be sourced separately by CESC.
It is learnt that CESC had given both
power equipment suppliers the option to offer an integrated turnkey solution
that will not just include the boiler-turbine package. The cost of the entire
project is likely to exceed Rs.1,000 crore as around 80 per cent of the project
cost account for the turnkey equipment contract.
Work on the project is likely to
commence by January 2007 with completion scheduled within 33 months.
