Moser Baer is planning to invest $250
million (around Rs.1,125 crore) in the next three years to set up the largest
thin-film solar fabrication facility, to be located next to the company's solar
photovoltaic plant in Greater Noida.
The company has already entered into a
technological pact with a US-based company Applied Materials for this purpose.
Of the $250 million, nearly $100 million (Rs.450 crore) will go towards the
initial 40 MW capital expenditure.
The thin-film, which Moser Baer
intends to produce, will have an area of 5.7 sq.mt and will be the world's
largest as the current industry benchmark is 1.5 sq.mt.
