The bid consultant, Ernst & Young
(E&Y) for the 4,000 Mw Sasan ultra mega power project (UMPP) having
investment up to Rs.16,000 crore, has tagged the winning bid of Lanco-Globeleq,
as "invalid".
Globeleq Singapore is currently owned
by Lanco and Jindal Steel.
E&Y has drafted its report stating
that there were discrepancies in the bidding documents submitted by the
Lanco-Globeleq consortium that has made their bid invalid.
The decision now lies with the PFC and
the power ministry whether or not to scrap the bid or to call a limited bid from
the eight other bidders.
