Jindal Saw received a letter of award
(LoA) from Cairn Energy India for supply of line pipes, tracer tube, insulation
and bends for the Barmer Salaya Pipeline (BSPL) project. The order is valued at
$200 million (approx. Rs.787.6 crore).
The pipeline will be jointly owned by
Cairn in partnership with Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC). JSL will
manufacture and fabricate the pipes, the insulating and jacketing work will be
performed by Perma Pipes, subsidiary of MFRI Inc.
The pipeline will be used to transport
heavy crude oil from their oil fields in Mangala in North West India to a
terminal in Salaya a distance of approximately 600 kilometers. JSL will also
source eight inch ERW pipe from other suppliers.
The company will execute the proposed
order from May 2008 to December 2008.
