Essar Constructions (India) bagged its first overseas construction project in Africa. Essar along with
Consolidated Contractors Group, Greece will execute the project.
The company's pipeline division has
been awarded the $56 million (approx.Rs.224 crore) nickel slurry pipeline
project in Madagascar, Africa. The pipeline will transport nickel ore in slurry
form from Ambatovy Nickel Cobalt mining ore to the port of Taomasina, from where
it will be exported. SNC Lavalin, Canada is the EPCM contractor for the project.
The project work comprises laying and
constructing the pipeline, besides HDD operations across Riyanla (400 m) and
Ivondro (1100m) rivers. This project is scheduled to be completed within 13
months.
