Ramky Enviro Engineers bagged an order
worth Rs.102.15 crore from Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) for and
integrated solid waste management project at West Boragaon on PPP basis.
Under the terms of the deal, GMC will
provide a 60 acre site for this project on nominal lease rent of Rs.1 a sq.mtrs
a year.
The project will cover different
aspects of disposal of municipal solid wastes from collection, transportation
and processing, besides producing 6 MW power and compost from the wastes. The
developer will be responsible for the entire cycle of solid waste management,
from door-to-door collection up to scientific disposal of the waste. The
developer will also be responsible for cleaning of drains and sweeping of
streets, something traditionally done by municipal bodies.
The proposed components of the
integrated project are: a 6-MW power plant, a refuse derived fuel (RDF) plant
(650 tpd), a composting plant (50 tpd), and a landfill site
and recycling plant.
