The Central government
has approved three port projects on PPP basis for the construction of two
container terminals and a coal terminal with an estimated cost of Rs.2,053.23
crore. The two container terminals will be set up at
Ennore Port and Tuticorin Port in Tamil Nadu on BOT basis and the coal
terminal will come up in Goa on DBFOT mode.
The container terminal
at Ennore Port will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs.1,407 crore, while
the one at Tuticorin Port will require an investment of Rs.312.23 crore. In Goa,
a coal terminal will be developed at an outlay of Rs.334 crore.
The Public Private
Partnership Approval Committee under the Finance Ministry had approved these
three projects of the Department of Shipping at its 22nd meeting on 13 January.
