Siemens VAI Metals Technologies has bagged an Euro 200 million (approx
Rs.1,307.60 crore) order from Steel Authority of India (SAIL) for a new LD
converter steel mill which will be installed at its Bhillai steel plant, located
in Chhatisgarh.
The scope of work includes engineering and the supply of three LD (BOF -
Basic Oxygen Furnace) converters, including primary and secondary de-dusting
facilities, converter gas recovery, electrics and automation. These three
converters with a combined capacity to produce 4 million tonne of crude steel
per annum are likely to be operational by the early second quarter of 2011.
