The Mumbai based ABG Infralogistics (ABG) has bagged Haldia port project in
West Bengal from the Kolkata Port Trust (KoPT).
ABG will put up mobile cranes for berths 2 and 8 at Haldia. The company has
emerged as the lowest bidder for the project in 2008, but due to protests from a
section of employees and divisions within the board of trustees of KoPT,
official announcement was made on 26 April 2009.
ABG will invest Rs 150 crore to put up the cranes which will handle bulk
cargo like coal. Each berth will be able to handle up to 4 million tonne of
load.
