Daimler Commercial Vehicle India proposes to set up a plant near Chennai at
an investment of around Rs 4,400 crore over the next five years to manufacture
light, medium and heavy commercial vehicles.
The plant is likely to have an initial production capacity of 36,000 units in
Phase I. The plant coming up on around 400 acres will be modular in nature so
that production capacity can be increased to 75,000 units in Phase II.
