The Andhra Pradesh Government is likely to submit a Rs 6,245 crore master
plan to the Union Government shortly for improving the drainage and sewerage in
areas under Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). The plan will be
submitted seeking funds under the JNNURM.
Some localities were getting inundated due to insufficient drain capacity and
obstruction to free flow of water during heavy rains. About 109 area which faced
such flooding were identified under the GHMC limits.
