Work on Chennai Metro Rail's (CMRL) 13-km stretch between Koyambedu and St
Thomas Mount is likely to be completed by December 2013.
Currently, piers are being erected for the four km stretch from Koyambedu to
Ashok Nagar and the nine km line between Ashok Nagar and SIDCO Industrial
estate.
In February 2010, CMRL had floated tenders for design and construction of
five elevated stations at Koyambedu, Chennai Mofussil bus terminus, Arumbakkam,
Vadapalani and Ashok Nagar-KK Nagar including 900 m viaduct and 400 m of flyover
at Vadapalani station on Corridor-2 of Chennai Metro Rail Project Phase I.
