The Punjab Government gave in-principle approval for sanction of Rs 220 crore
by the Punjab Infrastructure Development Board and Rural Development Board for
the upgradation of infrastructure to strengthen the network of government
hospitals in the state.
Of the Rs 300 crore required for the project, the remaining Rs 80 crore will
come from the National Rural Health Mission.
The project envisages, setting up of 32 new Community Health Centres,
providing essential equipments in the community health centres, sub-divisional
and district hospitals. The district hospitals of Muktsar, Shaheed Bhagat Singh
Nagar and Tarn-Taran needed to be upgraded.
