The Union Government along with the Nepal Government is likely to develop
rail infrastructure at five points along the Indo-Nepal border. The MoU in this
regards was signed in February 2010.
These five projects estimated to cost Rs 1,373 crore are to be implemented in
phased manned. In the Phase I, Jogbani-Biratnagar new line and Jayanagar to
Bijalpura gauge conversion and its extension up to Bardibas is likely to be
taken up. Detailed engineering survey for Jogbani-Biratnagar has been completed,
and the detailed engineering survey for Jayanagar-Bardibas has been taken up.
