The state government of Karnataka will soon launch a project to build 10,000 playgrounds in the rural areas, on 14 November, Children's Day.
Under this project, two playgrounds will be built in each Panchayat, which will be taken up with the cooperation of the departments of revenue, education and sports ministry.
Also, the state government announced the start of 'Rajiv Gandhi Chaitanya Yojana' to provide skilled training, loan, and self-employment and placement opportunities for 2,00,000 rural unemployed youth.
The state government has also proposed upgradation of 2,450 km of road under 'Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana-2,' to which the ministry of rural development has responded positively and the central government clearance is expected within a week.
For development of roads, the government intends to use new technology such as those relating to jute, coir, cell-filled concrete, cold-mix and waste plastic in building of roads which will bring down the cost of such works.
On the other hand, the centre has released another Rs 436 crore to the state under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. The state planned to build 6,00,000 household toilets in rural areas in 2013-14 under 'Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan', of which 1,78,000 have already been built.
