Sarvam AI, an Indian AI startup, has announced partnerships with the state governments of Odisha and Tamil Nadu to develop a national compute grid and establish 'Sovereign AI' infrastructure.
This collaboration focuses on creating large-scale compute facilities and localized language models, ensuring AI benefits reach India’s citizens in their native languages. Pratyush Kumar, CEO of Sarvam AI, emphasized the transformative goal, stating, "The aim of these partnerships is to drive transformation by building at-scale compute, sovereign models, and the institutional capacity to drive AI adoption." On 06 February, 2026, Odisha signed an MoU with Sarvam AI to set up a 50 MW AI-optimised facility.
The hub will also anchor a nationwide compute grid, providing AI capacity for other states and national platforms, marking a shift towards digital self-reliance in India.
