Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has announced that over 250 memorandums of understanding (MoUs) have been signed for setting up industrial units in the Defence Industrial Corridors of Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
Speaking at Aero India 2025, he emphasised the government's initiatives to boost defence manufacturing, including allowing up to 75 percent foreign direct investment (FDI) through the automatic route, and 100 percent under the government approval route. He highlighted the approval of 46 joint ventures and companies in the defence sector.
The Minister stressed the need for countermeasures to address emerging challenges and reaffirmed the government's commitment to strengthening domestic defence production under Prime Minister Modi's leadership. The evolving nature of warfare requires continuous adaptation, with increased reliance on drones, space-based systems, and complex communication technologies.
The future of defence will involve integrating manned, unmanned, and autonomous systems.
