In a significant step to strengthen education infrastructure, the Karnataka government and the Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board (KKRDB) will establish 350 new Karnataka Public Schools in the region within two years.
Announcing the initiative, KKRDB Chairman Ajay Singh said the State Cabinet has approved the construction of 500 schools across Karnataka with Asian Development Fund assistance, of which 150 are sanctioned for Kalyana Karnataka. The KKRDB will add 200 more, bringing the total to 350. Currently, 300 public schools exist statewide, including 60 in this region.
Each new institution, costing Rs three to five crore and spread over three to five acres, will offer education from LKG to PU with modern facilities including bus services.
The Chairman noted that Rs 6,224 crore of Rs 8,000 crore released in the last 27 months has been utilised.
