Ministry of Civil Aviation has informed the Lok Sabha that pre-feasibility studies have been conducted for proposed airports at various locations in Andhra Pradesh, following requests from the state government.
In a written reply to a query from YSRCP MP PV Midhun Reddy, Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol stated that the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has already completed studies for airport sites in Kuppam, Srikakulam, and Ongole. In addition, the Andhra Pradesh government requested AAI to assess a potential airport site in Tadepalligudem in January 2026, for which AAI is awaiting necessary site details from the state. The Minister further shared that the state government has submitted proposals for site clearance in Kuppam and Srikakulam under the Greenfield Airports Policy.
These proposals are under review by the Ministry of Civil Aviation. Minister Mohol clarified that the responsibility for implementing these projects, including land acquisition and financing, lies with the state government or the airport developer, with project timelines dependent on various factors like land acquisition and clearances.
