The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is set to launch its largest-ever modernisation of air navigation services with an investment of Rs 15,000–17,000 crore.
This plan aims to enhance the country’s airspace capacity by upgrading or building 65 air traffic control (ATC) towers by 2029. Key improvements include automation, advanced equipment, and new navigation systems at major airports. A significant portion of the investment will focus on civil works (60 percent) and technology (40 percent).
AAI prioritises four greenfield projects in Bhogapuram, Navi Mumbai, Dholera, and Jewar due to high expected traffic. The initiative aims to reduce aircraft congestion and improve operational efficiency, aiming to match global hubs' air traffic management standards.
