The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet has approved a land swap facilitating the Oberoi Group’s luxury hotel project in Tirupati.
This decision follows public opposition to the project's original site near Alipiri, initially allotted in January 2023 to Mumtaz Hotels, a subsidiary of the Oberoi Group. To resolve the issue, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Trust Board, following a change in government, cancelled the previous 35-acre land allotment in March 2025. On direction from Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, the TTD coordinated with the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Authority (APTA) to identify an alternative location.
The AP Cabinet has now sanctioned the exchange of 24.68 acres of APTA land in Survey No. 604 at Peruru with 25 acres of TTD land in Survey no. 588A, also in Peruru. The new site is located on the Alipiri–Cherlopalli road, between Aravind Eye Hospital and TATA Cancer Institute. This Cabinet approval officially greenlights the project’s shift, allowing construction to begin at the new location.
