To enhance tourism and boost ridership at the Aarey-JVLR Metro Station, the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) has plans to build a ropeway connection to Film City in Goregaon, with a possible extension to Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP).
The proposed three-km ropeway will traverse the Aarey hills, easing congestion at Dindoshi and Yashodham Junction on the Goregaon-Mulund Link Road. The ropeway is expected to carry 2,000–3,000 passengers per hour per direction (PPHPD).
MMRC is evaluating monocable, bi-cable, and tri-cable detachable gondola technologies. Once the alignment is finalised, bids will be floated under a public-private partnership (PPP) via the design, build, finance, operate, and transfer (DBFOT) model.
