Acer India, in collaboration with Plumage Solutions, has launched a laptop manufacturing facility in Kurumbapet, Puducherry, under the production linked incentive (PLI) scheme for IT hardware.
The Plumage-owned plant has an annual capacity of three lakh laptops, aiming to enhance supply chain efficiency, reduce delivery timelines, and support Acer’s localisation strategy by cutting import dependence. The partnership also covers the production of monitors, desktops, servers, workstations, and power adapters. Plumage will invest Rs 50 crore over the next three to four years to expand manufacturing capabilities. The facility will create high-skill roles and cater to both domestic and export markets.
Harish Kohli, President & MD, Acer India, called the plant “a significant step towards self-reliance in electronics manufacturing,” adding, “India is not just a key market for Acer, it’s a strategic pillar for our future growth.” Sudhir Goel, CBO, said it will meet rising demand while ensuring quality. Mukesh Gupta, MD, Plumage, highlighted combining Acer’s product expertise with Plumage’s engineering to set “new benchmarks in quality and innovation.”
