HP India is set to start local manufacturing of laptops, desktops, and all-in-one PCs from May, in collaboration with Dixon Technologies. This strategic move aligns with HP's goals to nearly double its annual manufacturing output compared to last year.
The decision to ramp up local manufacturing through this tie-up comes as HP looks to strengthen its footprint in India’s growing hardware ecosystem. By localising its operations, HP aims to enhance supply chain efficiency, reduce costs, and improve time-to-market, particularly in a sector where responsiveness and customisation are crucial for meeting evolving enterprise and consumer needs.
To better serve small and mid-sized enterprises, HP has rolled out ‘HP Connects’, a network of customer engagement centres situated in MSME hubs. These centres offer more than just product access, they also provide IT infrastructure solutions and consulting services, effectively acting as outsourced CIOs for companies lacking dedicated internal tech teams.
HP is among the 27 companies approved under the Rs 17,000-crore PLI scheme for IT hardware, which was launched in 2023 to boost local electronics manufacturing. The company is witnessing strong growth across both commercial and consumer segments. While large enterprises and IT/ITeS firms are driving commercial demand, MSMEs, particularly those based in non-metro areas, are increasingly contributing to sales volumes.
