The National Committee on Transmission (NCT) has cleared an interstate transmission system (ISTS) project titled “Transmission system for providing connectivity to RE applicants at Navinal (Mundra) GIS”. Navinal Transmission, a subsidiary of Adani Energy Solutions (AESL), has been designated as the implementing agency.
The project includes a 220kV switchyard (bus section-1) and installation of a 1×500 MVA, 400/220kV interconnecting transformer (ICT) at the upcoming Navinal GIS substation in Gujarat. It has an envisaged cost of Rs 105.09 crore and 24-month completion schedule. The scheme will enable power injection from the 300-MW wind project of Adani Wind Energy Kutchh Three at 220kV level.
Navinal Transmission is already developing the greenfield 765/400kV, 4×1500 MVA Navinal GIS substation, awarded in October 2024, with commissioning targeted by July 2026. As of 31 July, 2025, 70 acres of land were acquired, foundations completed, and civil works 30 percent completed.
Another AESL project, “Transmission system for supply of power to Green hydrogen/ammonia manufacturing potential in Mundra,” will augment the Navinal substation to support three GW of green hydrogen-linked demand.
