The Adani Group plans to invest an additional Rs 30,000 crore to expand Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), which is set to begin operations this December, as per Business Standard.
The Group has already invested around Rs 20,000 crore in developing the airport, India’s largest greenfield project, with the first phase accommodating 20 million passengers annually. Airlines such as Air India, IndiGo, and Akasa Air have committed to operating from NMIA. The second-phase expansion, expected by 2029, will add capacity for 30 million passengers, a major cargo terminal, and India’s largest MRO facility with five hangars.
Funded through a mix of debt and equity, the project includes a 26 percent stake held by the Maharashtra government. Once complete, NMIA will handle 3.8 million tonne of cargo annually and feature four terminals with Keywords:
