In a significant development for electricity consumers, the Central government has earmarked coal linkage for the new 800 MW expansion unit at the Rajiv Gandhi Thermal Power Plant in Khedar, Hisar district.
This coal linkage, part of the Central government's 'Shakti' Scheme, will ensure a steady and long-term supply of coal, crucial for uninterrupted power generation. Haryana's Energy Minister, Anil Vij, highlighted that this arrangement would eliminate potential disruptions in power supply due to fuel shortages, reinforcing the state's energy security. "The earmarking of coal linkage will accelerate the implementation of this crucial project and effectively meet the growing demand for electricity," said Minister Vij.
The expansion of the Khedar thermal plant will enhance Haryana's overall power generation capacity, providing reliable electricity to industrial, agricultural, and domestic consumers. With this initiative, the state aims to become self-reliant in the power sector, ensuring affordable and sustainable electricity for all.
