Madhya Pradesh is set to sign three agreements with power developers to produce 4,000 MW of thermal power, attracting an estimated investment of Rs 60,000 crore.
The projects, to be located in Anuppur district, were awarded through a competitive design, build, finance, own & operate (DBFOO) bidding process by MP Power Management Company. Under the plan, 3,200 MW has been allocated through the main tender, while an additional 800 MW will be added under a greenshoe option. Selected developers include Torrent Power with 1,600 MW, Adani Power with 800 MW, and Hindustan Thermal Projects with 800 MW. These projects are expected to create around 3,000 direct and 5,000 indirect employment in the state.
Special Purpose Vehicles formed by the developers will enter into Power Supply Agreements with the state. The new thermal plants are expected to begin supplying electricity by 2030, boosting Madhya Pradesh’s energy production capacity and supporting industrial and economic growth in the region.
