The State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (SIPCOT) has allocated about 125 acres of land at its Manapparai industrial park in Trichy for setting up an aerospace industrial park. Trichy is among the five nodal cities of the Tamil Nadu defence industrial corridor.

The aerospace park will attract investments in the sector as well as in defence manufacturing, and the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) will be the nodal agency for promoting the park.

About 131 acres has also been allotted to Tamil Nadu Small Industries Development Corporation (TANSIDCO) for promoting the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) sector. Earlier, four private industries had received allotment orders to invest Rs 165 crore in SIPCOT.

Moreover, riding on the interest shown by manufacturing units in investing, SIPCOT has set aside six acres of land for a dedicated electrical substation to meet the expected electricity needs. Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage (TWAD) Board is also facilitating the infrastructure to supply Cauvery water to SIPCOT.

MSMEs operating in the food and engineering fabrication business are likely to benefit from the new industrial park, a major conglomerate is also pursuing discussion with SIPCOT for provisioning more than 300 acres of land in Manapparai for an electric vehicle (EV) unit.
