Hyderabad-based battery active materials manufacturer, Altman has inked a strategic agreement with YLB, the National Strategic Public Company for Bolivian Lithium Deposits, to develop a raw materials supply chain and produce cathode active materials for lithium-ion batteries.
The collaboration will help address the lithium requirements for Altmin’s India operations, and also marks the entry of the South American nation in indigenous Li-Ion battery manufacturing, while altogether contributing to the global energy transition.
The partnership includes sharing of scientific technology knowledge for manufacturing active materials for use in Lithium-ion batteries by setting up a pilot plant in Potosi using Altmin’s patented carbon-coated Lithium Iron Phosphate (C-LFP) technology and sharing of lithium carbonate supplies produced by YLB.
The alliance will enable Altmin to produce upwards of 10 GWh of LFP by 2030.
