E-commerce and cloud company Amazon has exceeded 1.1 GW of renewable energy (RE) capacity in India by adding its new 198 MW wind farm project in Osmanabad, Maharashtra.
This brings the company's total count of wind and solar projects in India to 50, and has also positioned it to become the largest corporate buyer of RE in the country.
Further, these projects will ease the company to power all its operations with 100 percent RE by 2025. The firm also intends to contribute towards India's economic and environmental goals as part of its commitment to become a more sustainable business.
The company's wind and solar farms have enabled it to generate an estimated USD 349 million (around Rs 2,885 crore) of direct and indirect investment for India's communities between 2014 to 2022.
