Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy performed ‘bhoomi puja’ at the JSW steel plant in Sunnapurallapalli village of YSR (Kadapa) district on 15 February, 2023. The plant will be set up in two phases entailing a total investment of Rs 8,800 crore.
The first phase works of the steel plant envisages a production capacity of three mln tonne per annum, which is to be completed within the next 24-30 months by spending Rs 3,300 crore. Jindal group will be investing Rs 5,500 crore within a span of five years to complete the second phase works, once the first phase works gets completed.
The state government is spending Rs 700 crore in infrastructure development to expedite the works related to the Jammalamadugu plant.
JSW group’s steel plant at Bellary has a current plant capacity of 13 mln tonne per annum.
Stating it as a historic day for the region, the Chief Minister highlighted that industrialisation will get a boost through the proposed establishment of ancillary industries which will induce job opportunities for the local youth as well.
The state has consistently ranked number one in the ease of doing business index since 2019 and is emerging as a preferred investment destination based on progressive industrial policies in the country.
