BMW Industries, a leading steel services manufacturer, has commissioned two new tube mills and a 1.28 MW rooftop solar power plant at its facility in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, marking a Rs 50 crore investment to bolster production and sustainability.
The addition of the tube mills will increase the plant’s annual manufacturing capacity by 60,000 MT per annum, raising total capacity to approx.6,00,000 MT per annum—enabling stronger output of MS and galvanized (GL) pipes to meet escalating demand. The rooftop solar installation is designed to supply a portion of the facility’s internal energy requirements, reducing dependence on conventional power sources and advancing BMW Industries’ environmental, social, and governance (ESG) objectives.
By integrating renewable energy, the company aims to lower its carbon footprint and improve energy efficiency in its manufacturing processes. The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Executive In Charge of the Tubes Division at Tata Steel, Sanjay Surajprakash Sahni, alongside senior BMW Industries officials and industry dignitaries.
