Andhra Pradesh government is set to become a clean energy powerhouse with the State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) approving three major renewable energy projects worth Rs 25,000 crore, totalling over 2,800 MW.
Tata Power Renewable Energy will develop a 400 MW solar plant in Anantapuramu district, while ACME Urja One will set up a 400 MW solar-plus-battery project with 600 MWh storage in the same region. Chinta Green Energy received approval for a 2,000 MW pumped-hydro project in ParvathipuramManyam district, sourcing water from local reservoirs. These projects must be completed within 24–48 months and will benefit from government incentives including land-lease subsidies, duty exemptions, and MNRE support.
APTransco will aid grid integration, and power generated will primarily be exported, though the state holds a 30 percent purchase option. Separately, Ampin Energy Transition received approval to increase its total renewable capacity to 351.80 MW in Kurnool and Nandyal. These moves align with Andhra Pradesh’s 160 GW renewable energy target.
