Serentica Renewables will develop a 170 MW solar-wind hybrid project to supply captive power to tyre major MRF, supporting its sustainability and net-zero goals.
Under a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA), Serentica will deliver round-the-clock renewable energy to MRF’s manufacturing units via the Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS). A special purpose vehicle (SPV) has been formed for the project, with MRF taking a minority captive stake and Serentica retaining the majority. This arrangement aligns with the captive power framework, allowing MRF to meet a substantial portion of its energy needs through clean sources.
Established in 2022, Serentica has reached 1,000 MW in renewable energy capacity, with projects spread across multiple states using solar, wind, storage, and advanced balancing technologies. The MRF project marks another step toward decarbonizing industrial power consumption in India.
