The Andhra Pradesh government is preparing to acquire an additional 30,000 to 40,000 acres of land to support the expansion of infrastructure projects around the capital city of Amaravati, including the construction of a new international airport. This move follows the 34,241 acres previously acquired from 29,881 farmers across 29 villages in Guntur district during Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s earlier tenure between 2014 and 2019.
A per sources, the state government intends to significantly widen the scope of the development plan, now aiming to include key infrastructure such as an international airport, outer and inner ring roads, and new highways connecting the capital to major cities like Hyderabad, Machilipatnam, and Visakhapatnam.
The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) is reportedly in the process of identifying suitable land parcels in villages within the core capital region, particularly in Guntur and Krishna districts. The government’s expanded blueprint includes a robust network of roads and expressways to facilitate seamless movement within the capital region. The development will integrate the 16.9-sq. km seed capital area with broader regional and inter-state road infrastructure.
