The Andhra Pradesh government has marked a significant milestone in the development of Amaravati by laying the raft foundation for the new High Court complex.
The construction was officially launched by Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, Ponguru Narayana, who performed special rituals before commencing the work. The building, designed by the renowned firm Norman Foster and Partners, will cover 21 lakh sq. ft. and feature 52 court halls. The courtrooms will be spread across the second, fourth, and sixth floors, with the Chief Justice’s court located on the eighth floor. The complex will utilize 45,000 tonne of steel and is expected to be completed by the end of 2027.
With modern infrastructure, digital court systems, and ample public amenities, the project is one of seven iconic buildings currently under construction in Amaravati. Minister Narayana emphasised the government's commitment to completing the capital city as envisioned in the Amaravati master plan.
