The Andhra Pradesh government has released official guidelines for Land Pooling Scheme-II (LPS-II), aiming to acquire 40,000–45,000 acres to support capital city expansion.

Grama sabhas have already been conducted in Tadikonda and Pedakurapadu constituencies, laying the groundwork for the scheme’s formal rollout. LPS-II will facilitate the development of major infrastructure including an international airport, sports city, and smart industrial zones. Despite lingering concerns among farmers involved in the original Land Pooling Scheme (LPS-I) nearly a decade ago, the state is moving forward with plans to include new regions adjacent to the existing 29 capital region villages.

The scheme retains most norms from LPS-I and is based on voluntary land contributions through mutual consensus. “The land procurement mechanism has been designed as a voluntary scheme based on mutual consensus between landowners and the state,” said Principal Secretary S Suresh Kumar. As per the guidelines, 10 percent of land will go toward open spaces, 30 percent for roads/utilities, five percent each for social infrastructure and affordable housing. The remaining land will be divided between landowners and the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA), with special provisions for infrastructure-designated zones.
