The government of Andhra Pradesh intends to make the state an electronics manufacturing hub and not limit the scope to mobile phones.
The government intends to meet the requirement of even the defence establishments.
As part of this expansion in electronics manufacturing, the government has roped in Reliance Jio to set up its mobile phone and set-top box making unit near Tirupati on 125 acre of land. For this, Reliance Jio has already submitted its detailed project report (DPR).
Invecas, a leading semiconductor manufacturer, has also entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the state government and is expected to materialise soon.
Besides, consumer electronics major Dixon, Celkon and Karbonn and a host of other companies are foraying into the state.
The government aims to develop Tirupati as the hub for electronics manufacturing and Visakhapatnam as a world-class destination for IT companies.
