Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to construct 2,000 km of roads in Andhra Pradesh at an outlay of Rs 1,000 crore.
During a review meeting with the roads and bridges department, the CM emphasised that road repairs must continue during the monsoon and be completed swiftly. An additional Rs 500 crore will be allocated for repairing damaged roads across the state. Officials reported that around 20,000 km of roads have already been made pothole-free.
The CM also instructed that road contractor and maintenance details be made available online, with CCTV cameras installed every 50 km. Maintenance will be handed over to contractors with preventive measures for monsoon damage.
Andhra Pradesh has 12,653 km of state highways, with 10,200 km of roads eligible for PPP development. Phase 1A includes 18 roads (1,332 km), Phase 1B has 67 roads (3,854 km), and Phase 2 proposes 175 roads (5,039 km). Two additional roads - Yelamanchili-Gajuwaka and Gajulamandyam-Sri City (SEZ), spanning 115 km are also being considered for PPP development.
