The Andhra Pradesh government will set up a logistics corporation to optimise cargo movement from the state’s ports, airports, inland waterways, and railways.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed industries and infrastructure officials to prepare a blueprint, positioning the entity as a key driver for the 20 ports and airports under construction. He also proposed amending the AP Maritime Policy to align with the Union government’s shipbuilding cluster scheme, aiming to attract shipbuilding units to locations like Machilipatnam, Mulapeta, and Chinaganjam, where investor interest is emerging.
Plans include developing satellite townships near new ports, airports, and MSME parks across 175 constituencies to spur regional growth. He instructed expediting airport projects at Kuppam and Dagadarthi, ensuring timely land acquisition, and constructing connecting roads to national highways, with viability gap funding if required. The initiative is expected to lower transport costs and leverage the state’s central location for pan-India trade connectivity.
